Google employs many thousands of people, so how could their employment research apply to your small cafe or restaurant? They found that it's not top performance in technical skills that is the most important factor for success, but a whole bunch of skills to do with people and problem solving.

For your restaurant or bar, that means it's not just the chefs brilliance with recipes, the barista's latte art, or the sommelier's knowledge of wine. It's how these employees train others, share information, support their team and handle problems with service, ordering, sales and cost control. It's much harder to find staff who are technically amazing, than it is to find people with a good attitude and willingness to learn. Let's all take a lesson from Google...
