Starting a hospitality business from scratch is hard work, and even with a great idea and loads of ambition, it can be hard to raise finance or impress a bank. The Holy Shiitake program is designed to give budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to refine their pitch and present it to a team of experienced business people.

Visionary hospitality funders Silver Chef and popular Brisbane business incubator Wandering Cooks teamed up to give budding foodservice and bar operators a very sweet opportunity with the Holy Shiitake Pitch Program. There were two preparation stages leading up to the final presentations and award night - first was the launch event with networking and information, second was a night of coaching on the best way to make presentations, and then the final evening when the winners were selected and announced.

This awards night was big , with more than 100 people supporting the finalists, and  completely filled the Wandering Cooks space in South Brisbane. The final three winners will take home their share of $50,000 worth of prizes - equipment and valuable business mentoring.

We are proud to announce the winners:

1st Prize = Mongrel, bar and kitchen - on Instagram

2nd Prize = Genki, almond milk - on Instagram

3rd Prize = Bask & Co, gluten free granola - on Instagram

Special mention also to Zandi Organics (on Instagram) who won a stall at Regional Flavours event in Brisbane, and a $15,000 personal investment from judge Johann Moonsighe.
